Patrick Forde – Saxophone

MMAAC October 2013 - 4

Patrick was born in Halifax, NS, and raised in Hammonds Plains. In 1988, he joined the Halifax Militia Band as a reserve military musician and has remained with this band, which is now known as the 36 Canadian Brigade Group (NS) Band. During his career, Patrick has performed on saxophone, clarinet, flute and percussion. He was commissioned in May 2001, at which time he assumed the duty of Director of Music of the 36 CBG (NS) Band and in October 2006 was appointed G1 Bands (Music advisor and Inspector of Reserve bands within Atlantic Canada).

In 1997 Patrick joined the “Legendary Echoes” and remained with them until they became the backbone of the Sounds of Motown. He has performed with many different artists throughout the Atlantic Provinces since the late 80’s and is proud to be one of the founding members of the Sounds of Motown.

Patrick began teaching instrumental music in the Halifax Regional School Board in 1997, bringing his love for music to a new generation. He and his wonderful wife Joy are fortunate to have two fantastic adult children: Evan and Halle.
